                        FEATURING – BRITANNIA XM496 ‘REGULUS’

————————————-

The following is mainly for people from the Bristol area

This unique event has also been organised as a day out to Cotswold/Kemble Airport by the Bristol Aero Collection Trust; starting from the Museum at Filton, with car parking and a visit to the museum  – open from 8am. At 9am passengers will board the vintage buses provided by the Bristol Omnibus Collection for transportation to Cotswold/Kemble Airport. The buses on arrival will park near the AV8 restaurant for a comfort break and a close up view of the preserved British Airways ‘Negus’ Boeing 747. At 11.30am passengers will be bussed to Bristol Britannia XM496 (the last Britannia to fly), where you will be able to view the aircraft both inside (this includes access to the flight deck) and the outside; with hosting provided by members of the Bristol Britannia XM496 Preservation Society and Peter Coombs, a Britannia expert. XM496 ‘Regulus’ is the sole survivor of the RAF transport fleet and is probably the best preserved in original specification. A selection of Bristol cars will also be on display adjacent to the Britannia aircraft. At 1.30pm, or there-abouts, the bus passengers will be taken back to AV8 for takeaway catering and picnics in the outside area which has great views of the airport and any flying. Buses will depart at 2.30pm for the trip back to Filton arriving at 4.15pm
